College golf team uses brilliant, hilarious way to practice for windy conditions

    November 07, 2024

Golfers have to be prepared to play in all conditions—until we figure out how to play in a dome, that is. But one college golf team is taking its weather preparation to an extreme. And we're impressed.

The fall season is over for the Duke Blue Devils, but the practice continues. And when the spring season gets going again, the squad will be ready for March's winds thanks to a leaf blower. Yep, a leaf blower.

Check it out as longtime head coach Jamie Green takes aim at his players with the machine as they hit golf shots:

Now that's what we call outside-the(tee)-box thinking. Sure, that will have no effect on the golf ball's flight, but at least you simulate what it's like trying to stand still over the ball when the wind is howling. Hey, it can't hurt.

So, kudos to Coach Green. And while he's got that thing turned on, I'm sure the Duke maintenance staff wouldn't mind him cleaning up a couple areas.
