Cindy Morgan didn’t play one of the main characters in “Caddyshack,” the 1980 movie that remains one of the most popular golf films of all time. Yet her role as Lacey Underall, the attractive niece of Bushwood Country Club founder Judge Smails (played by Ted Knight), was among its more memorable.

A regular attendee at the PGA Merchandise Show and other conventions, Morgan once described the reaction from fans decades after the movie’s release. “You’d see the guys coming over to talk to Lacey Underall, but then they’d become that 14-year-old boy … it’s actually very sweet, charming,” she said.

On Saturday, the Palm Beach County (Fla.) Sheriff’s office confirmed to multiple outlets that Morgan was found dead in her Lake Worth Beach, Fla., home last month of natural causes. Morgan’s roommate returned from a trip on Dec. 30 and got no responses when knocking on Morgan’s door. Morgan was 69.

Morgan was born in Chicago and studied communications at Northern Illinois, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She worked on local news and radio before moving to Los Angeles to begin a modeling and acting career. Initially she appeared in commercials for Irish Spring soap.

“Caddyshack” was one of Morgan’s first film roles. She would later notably appear in the cult science-fiction movie “Tron” among other movies as well as play guest roles in several TV shows, including a recurring part on “Falcon Crest.”

“It was the longest and best party I’ve ever attended,” Morgan said of working on the set of “Caddyshack.”
