I serve on the GCAA committee that helps pick the recipient of the David Toms Award, which is given to a golfer who has overcome adversity to achieve excellence in college golf. It's humbling work, reading entries that describe heart-wrenching tales of accidents and tragedies you wouldn't wish on anyone. Yet somehow, these individuals manage to persevere and move on with their lives, in all cases returning to college golf and using the sport to help give their lives some normalcy.

My podcast guest is Brad Schneider, the 2012 David Toms Award winner. The fifth-year senior at UCF sports a 71.9 stroke average as he leads his team into NCAA Regionals this week. Schneider sat down with me last week to retell his sad yet inspiring story of overcoming injury and family heart-break to become one of the stand out players in college golf.
