Surging summer hero Chris Gotterup roasts ... us ... after another top 10 at the 3M Open

Chris Gotterup is one of the hottest golfers on the planet right now. After starting 2025 with 8 missed cuts in 12 tournaments, the Rutgers’ kid found something. Something pretty special. In his dozen starts since the Valero Texas Open, Gotterup has finished outside the top 30 just once—a MC at the RBC Canadian Open—and strung together a career-defining July, posting a win, solo third and T10 at the Genesis Scottish Open, British Open and 3M Open respectively. That’s a hell of a three-week stretch by just about any metric.
That’s not to say there haven’t been some doubters along the way … including us. Before this weekend’s trip to the Twin Cities, we predicted that Gotterup’s rocket ship would come crashing back to earth, at least from a DFS perspective. Instead, the 26-year-old World No. 26 opened with a scintillating 63, eventually earning his third top-10 of the season. After the tournament, Gotterup took to X to let us (and the whole world) know it.
Fair play, Chris. Fair play. We’re not too big to admit when we’re wrong, and in this case, we were. That’s just nature of the sports gambling. As an “expert” institution, all you can do is gather the most knowledgeable minds you can, crunch the numbers and hold on for dear life. Sometimes you get it right. Sometimes you get golfed. This weekend, it was the latter.
That said, props to Gotterup not only for calling us out, but also for his impressive play this summer. This winter, he looked sure to be one of the guys battling for his PGA Tour life by year’s end. Now he’s poised for a massive FedEx Cup payday and possibly even a spot on this fall’s Ryder Cup squad. As card-carrying members of the stars n’ stripes, we’ve never more happy to be proven wrong.
