Campus Insider Podcast/Mike Small
My first special summer edition of the Podcast involves an interview with Illinois men's coach Mike Small, fresh off his third career victory at the PGA Professional National Championship.
Small, 44, shot a final-round one-over 73 at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick (Ind.) Resort, but made three birdies on his final five holes to give him a three-stroke win over Sonny Skinner with an eight-under 278 total. Small previously won the event in 2005 and 2009, and joins Larry Gilbert as the only three-time winners.
With the victory Small receives an exemption into next month's PGA Championship at Wisconsin's Whistling Straits. It will be his sixth time playing the PGA.
