Callaway lets you channel your inner club builder with its uDesign driver program

Are colorful clubs a trend or a fad? Callaway's uDesign program for its Big Bertha ($500) and Big Bertha Alpha ($600) drivers suggests the company thinks it has staying power.

Initially uDesign's color options were limited to the sole. Now you can choose colored crowns and use the same or different colors for accents. Eight choices (red, pink, orange, green, gold, blue, white and black) are available in men's and women's models. You can also have up to 18 characters etched on the sole.

Three lofts (9, 10.5 and 13.5 degrees) are available for the Bertha, two (9, 10.5) for the Alpha. Shafts come in plus or minus two inches in length, and you can get one to eight extra wraps of tape under the grip, plus other shaft and grip choices.
