Caitlin Clark reveals her ‘number one priority’ at The Annika pro-am and it’s painfully relatable

It’s hard to remember a pro-am round with more hype than Caitlin Clark’s scheduled appearance at The Annika pro-am on Wednesday. The WNBA’s reigning rookie of the year will be paired with Nelly Korda for the front nine and tournament host Annika Sorenstam for the back, and the anticipation couldn’t be higher. Both Golf Channel and tournament organizers have rearranged their coverage plans in order to air portions of Clark’s round and our own Alex Myers called the fervor “Tiger-like.”
So how does Clark feel about all the excitement surrounding her round? Mostly she’s hoping not to kill anyone.
"I'm strong, and I can hit it. It just usually doesn't go straight," Clark said at the LPGA Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday. "I mean sometimes it goes straight, but it depends. You just step up there and hope for the best … I just don't want to hit anyone with a golf ball. That's my number one priority."
Extremely relatable stuff. After the Indiana Fever’s season came to an end, Clark joked that her offseason plan was to become “a professional golfer,” but it appears she’s tempered those expectations somewhat. Gallery goers at Pelican Golf Club on Wednesday should take note as well. Clark might be a sharpshooter on the court, but the course is another story entirely.
