Byeong Hun An (playfully) dunked on Golf Channel and Rory McIlroy with this tweet

Thanks to the magic of PGA Tour Live featured groups, Rory McIlroy’s entire opening-round 63 at the Travelers Championship was available for subscribers. Viewers were treated to all six of his birdies (and one eagle), including this beauty at the short par-4 second at TPC River Highlands, where McIlroy took an aggressive line and it paid off:

You really can’t get any closer than that, unless you put it in the hole.

Well, that’s exactly what Byeong Hun An did during his early morning round, which, like McIlroy’s, began on the back nine. After turning in one-under 34, An parred the first then found the center of the fairway at the second, where he had 99 yards left to the hole. He proceeded to hole out for eagle. Unfortunately, there is no footage.

That didn’t stop An from playfully dunking on both McIlroy and the Golf Channel with a hilarious tweet:

A literal “somebody’s closer” moment from “Happy Gilmore” for Benny An, who remains one of Golf Twitter’s most underrated follows. Quality stuff, but McIlroy got the last laugh with his 63, beating An by five shots.
