Bubba Watson a new minority owner of baseball's Pensacola Blue Wahoos

January 19, 2015

Bubba Watson is a big kid at heart, as we all know. He likes his toys, evidence of which has come in many forms, notably his purchase of the General Lee automobile from the television show "Dukes of Hazzard."

He bought sonething else with which to entertain himself, a professional baseball team, or part of one anyway. He has become a minority owner of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Cincinnati Reds Double-A team that plays in the Southern League.

Watson, who grew up in nearby Bagdad, Fla., has thrown out the first pitch at Wahoos games on two occasions, each time following a victory in the Masters. He also has taken batting practice with the team.

"I know Bubba is very excited about this and we are certainly excited to have him with us," one of the team's other owners, Rishy Studer, told the Pensacola News Journal. Watson Tweeted his excitement:

It's official...part owner of @BlueWahoosBBall Love my hometown #GoWahoos
