British Open 2025: There was a bat (!) in the NBC booth and Kevin Kisner reacted exactly how we all would
As they say in the UK, nae wind, nae rain, nae golf. This week at Royal Portrush, it's also nae . . . bats?
Well, technically, none of the competitors in the 153rd Open Championship had to deal with a stray bat, but a former Open competitor, Kevin Kisner, sure did. Kisner, who now works in the analyst role for NBC alongside Dan Hicks, was just trying to call some golf on Friday in Northern Ireland when out of the blue a bat began wreaking havoc in the booth he and Hicks were situation in. Has to be a first.
As it circled over their heads, Hicks did his best to thwart it, flailing his hands around and laughing it off. Kisner, meanwhile, sunk deep into his chair. Then he took his sport coat and hid underneath it. Just as we all would:
All you need to know about bats is that you never even see it in this video yet you know it's just FLYING around up there in a menacing manner. Eff those things. It's no wonder big bad Bruce Wayne was even scared of them.
Kisner should feel no shame. Not scared of former World No. 1 Dustin Johnson. For sure scared of bats.

Is it the British Open or the Open Championship? The name of the final men’s major of the golf season is a subject of continued discussion. The event’s official name, as explained in this op-ed by former R&A chairman Ian Pattinson, is the Open Championship. But since many United States golf fans continue to refer to it as the British Open, and search news around the event accordingly, Golf Digest continues to utilize both names in its coverage.
