The bookmaker William Hill favors squash at 3 to 2 odds and baseball, karate and softball at 2 to 1 odds of the seven sports vying for two spots in the 2016 Olympics, according to this TimesOnline story.

Golf is last at 5 to 1, trailing rugby sevens and rollers sports, each at 4 to 1.

Writer Ashling O'Connor says this about squash's chances: "The next logical leap for a sport that is a Commonwealth Games event, but it is burdened by the difficulty of watching a very small ball travelling at 160mph."

Golf World's Ron Sirak, meanwhile, made a compelling case for golf earlier today. Read it here.
