Pro quells LIV rumors with creative Instagram post
Sorry, PGA Tour diehards, but there is still no official word on where Jon Rahm is playing in 2024. The one way to quell all those LIV rumors, or to confirm them, would be for Rahm himself to come out and say if he's LIV-bound or if he's staying put. Much like what Adrian Meronk did on Wednesday morning.
No, Meronk is not exactly on Rahm's level when it comes to name recognition, but a former Ryder Cupper mentioned his name to The Telegraph's James Corrigan, along with Rahm's and Jason Day's, as a potential future LIV players. It wouldn't be the blow a Rahm or even a Day would be, but considering Meronk had earned his PGA Tour card thanks to his finish in the Race to Dubai rankings, it would have come as a shock to see him bolt from the PGA Tour before even playing a full season on it.
Meronk instantly put an end to the LIV smoke with a creative Instagram post on Wednesday morning that shows him "swiping to accept" his PGA Tour card. "Excited for the next chapter," Meronk wrote in the caption:
Again, this may not seem like major news, or a major blow to LIV, but Meronk is a player still on the ascent, and the PGA Tour needs as many of those guys as possible right now. A four-time winner on the DP World Tour, including two in 2023, Meronk seemed like a good fit for the European Ryder Cup team, too, but was controversially left off. No one would have blamed him if he then said screw it and immediately bolted for the Saudi-backed series, but it looks like he's happily staying put.
As for Day, Australian Golf Digest reporter Evin Priest has reported there is "nothing" to the Jason Day to LIV speculation, and that the former World No. 1 will be playing on the PGA Tour in 2024.
