About the Author

Ryan Herrington, Golf World Senior Writer, joined The Golf Digest Companies in 1995.  Before joining Golf World's staff on a full time basis as Associate Editor, he served as an Associate Editor and then Features Editor for Golf Shop Operations (now Golf World Business) from 1995 to 2000. In January 2004, he was named to his current title of Senior Writer.

Since 1997, Herrington has covered the college and amateur beat for Golf World. Currently he also attends several pro tour events, including the major championships, and edits Golf World's front-of-the-magazine Bunker section.

A Golf Writers Association of America Award recipient—most recently winning for his work in Golf Digest's Guide to College golf program—Herrington holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science and in Communications from the University of Michigan, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate.
