A golf junkie's payoff

September 17, 2009

Vinny Giles is a career amateur who made his living representing PGA Tour players, including Davis Love III, Tom Kite and Lanny Wadkins. Despite the considerable demands involved in representing elite athletes, Giles still found ample time to play, however.

Giles, the 1972 U.S. Amateur champion, confessed to playing about 100 rounds a year, as recounted in this Golf Digest story by Dave Anderson on the numbers of rounds various people in and around golf play.

His A game obviously has never been far away, evidence of which he provided on Thursday, when, at 66, he won the U.S. Senior Amateur.
