January 23, 2009

Quiros has three career wins on the Euro Tour and finished 26th on the money list in 2008.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) -- Alvaro Quiros of Spain had eight birdies for an 8-under 64 Saturday, leading Louis Oosthuizen by one stroke after the third round of the Qatar Masters.

Quiros, who made five birdies on the front nine, totaled 16-under 200 at Doha Golf Course.

"I have been telling people that I am not just a long hitter," Quiros said. "It has been a lucky week for me. I could see this score coming. I can't even remember when was the last time I won."

Oosthuizen of South Africa, who led by three strokes following the second round, was second after a 69. Maarten Lafeber of the Netherlands (66) and Henrik Stenson of Sweden (66) were four strokes behind the leader.

Andrew Coltart of Scotland (70) was five shots off the pace, while Spanish pair Sergio Garcia (67) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (70) were in a group that was six shots behind.

Garcia had a bogey on the last hole.

"It is disappointing because I hit such a good tee shot on the last and just got a bit of a mud ball," Garcia said. "Hit a good second. The ball just went exactly the opposite way I wanted to go. It is one of those things."
