There were 25 aces on the PGA Tour last year, so they’re not exactly rare.

But once in a while there's a hole-in-one that puts our chin on the floor, and Sungjae Im pulled one off on Friday in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Included in Im’s 10-under 61 that gave him the early clubhouse lead, his ace at TPC Craig Ranch’s No. 7 came from—let this sink in—224 yards. That has to be among the monster aces on tour. (The longest ever is Si Woo Kim from 252 in the 2025 PGA Championship.) Im used a 5-iron and said, “ I hit a really good shot. I didn’t expect it to go in.” Playing partner Jordan Spieth was more effusive: “That was one of the prettiest hole-in-ones I've ever seen. Prettier than any one I ever made. … There's only a few people that would land that left of it on purpose. He might be one of them.”
