The reaction in the golf world to this Rory McIlroy hilarious clip from Sunday’s Scottish Open was universal: Join the club, pal.
On his way to shooting 64 to secure a backdoor top-10, the World No. 2 might have a hit a couple of loose shots. But when he hooked his approach on the 16th, he comically lashed out at himself with a lament to which every hack could relate: “Oh my god, I’m so bad at golf!” CBS anchor Jim Nantz joked that it might be the quote of the year, and one of the British TV announcers dryly responded with, “I’ll swap you anytime.” McIlroy and Amanda Balionis had some fun with it after the round. She asked if he’d like to take it back. McIlroy smiled and said, “In that moment, the shot I hit with that 6-iron was a very, very poor golf shot. In that moment, I was so bad at golf.” And none of us felt any pity.
