Michael Thorbjornsen celebrated his Rocket Classic win in traditional fashion ...
... by promptly withdrawing from next week's Wyndham Championship. On Sunday night, just a few hours after the closing bell at Detroit Golf Club, Thorbjornsen officially withdrew from the PGA Tour's final regular-season stop in what can best be described as tour tradition for the previous week's winner.
The PGA Tour's impending shift to a two-track model will soon put an end to this time-honored tradition, but for now, old habits die hard. Comfortably ranked inisde the FedEx Cup top 50 (no. 38) heading into the playoffs, the newly minted first-time winner will now get a week off to rest and reset before setting his sights on the run to the Tour Championship at East Lake later this month.
