Enrique Dimayuga got a huge break to get into the APGA’s Billy Horschel Invitational, and he made the most of it by seizing his first pro victory.

Dimayuga got into the exclusive, 21-player event when APGA veteran Joey Stills had to withdraw due to playing in PGA Tour Q School. “I was over the moon,” Dimayuga said of the invite. He ended up shooting 68-67-135 (nine under) at Evermore Orlando Resort’s Grand Cypress Course and won by three shots. The first-place check was $30,000 from a full purse of $100,000.

In college, he played for four programs—Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, Nevada and Southern Methodist—and was a consistent contributor, including being the first golfer at Nevada to win back-to-back events. His graduate season was at SMU, where he finished second in his Mustangs debut while being third on the team in scoring average.
