Amid all of speculation about LIV Golf’s future, this probably isn’t noted enough: the league’s paltry U.S. TV ratings.
As reported by SBJ’s Josh Carpenter, the LIV final round in Mexico City on Sunday averaged 49,000 viewers on FS1. By comparison, the average viewership for the final round for the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage on CBS was nearly 100 times more at 4.35 million. The tour had its second-best viewership of the season behind the Players following strong ratings for the Masters. Golf on TV is flourishing right now, but it's not raising LIV's boat. And if you can't sell eyeballs, what are you asking potential sponsors to invest in?
