HOW TO DRIVE IT EFFORTLESSLY
I'm longer than ever off the tee, but to be clear, my distance gains are not a result of swinging harder—I'm just swinging smoother and simply putting more force into the strike. It’s all about using the big muscles of the body better. Here's how to pick up yards with a smoother driver swing. —Ben Griffin
- Walk in on your target line
- Set up open to free up your body rotation
- Stare at your target until you picture it in your mind
- Keep moving around until you're ready to swing
- Rehearse your backswing
- Take the club back quickly, not slowly
- Coil fully, then pause at the top
- Use that 'feel' when it's time to hit
- Rehearse your downswing, too
- Think of it like a race
- Rotate your body ahead of the club
- Let your hands beat the club to the ball
- Let your body rotation pull the club through
- Keep your speed up
- Feel fully extended through impact
- Finish with the club wrapped around you
