Cobra OPTM Max-D

Why We Like It
- Along with the Max-K, the Max-D offers the largest profile in the OPTM family, but it also adds internal heel-side weighting for built-in slice fighting.
- A holistic approach to fighting the slice, the Max-D is the most draw-biased driver in company history.
- The head’s lighter weight also makes it easier for players to control the head and return the face to square at impact.
- The large size features a rear skirt section that provides a lower and deeper center of gravity for easier and higher launch.
- Like others in the OPTM family, this model uses balanced internal weighting for increased stability and consistency in ball trajectory and spin.
- Thin-ply carbon composite panels (about one-third the density of titanium) save weight in the crown and sole to improve perimeter weighting and lower the center of gravity.
- The variable-thickness face features 15 zones across the face for better flexing.
- A 33-way adjustable hosel, the most diverse in the game, accommodates tweaks to ball flight from low to high and left to right.

Hot List testers noted it flows off the club with a high smash factor, producing impressive distance and a ball that stays on line. Excellent forgiveness kept the majority of shots high, straight and within a playable range, with consistent head and ball speeds. The feel is notably soft yet powerful and the muted, comfortable sound reinforces that. One caveat: the draw-biased design occasionally under- or over-corrected on a few shots.
Hot List testers noted the club flows easily through impact, producing impressive distance, high straight ball flights and strong smash factors with consistent head and ball speeds. Forgiveness was excellent—most shots stayed within a playable range—while the feel was very soft yet powerful and the muted sound comfortable. One drawback: the draw bias occasionally failed to correct or overcorrect certain shots.
Range Results
We tracked 20,000 shots through player testing and then had them analyzed by our team of scientists. These graphics reflect the relative performance our players saw for each club in the category.
