The holes flow across a level valley at the foot of the Snake River Range Mountains with lakes, streams and marshes coming into play on 14 holes. “Teton Pines is an Arnold Palmer Signature course established in 1987 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This par 72 mountain course plays at an elevation of 6,200 feet and to a length of 7,386 yards from the back tees. Surrounded by the Teton mountains, the course is nestled in a resort area with wonderful views of the nearby peaks. Although soaring summits are all around, Teton Pines is on a flat piece of land in the valley and offers little to no elevation changes. There is a nice mix of holes with 6 dogleg right and 5 dogleg left rewarding players who can work the ball at will. There is only one short hole, the 333 yard par 4 17th but the remaining holes are a good blend of medium (7) and long (10) holes including 2 par 5s over 600 yards and the 472 yard par 4 finishing hole. Three of the par 3s are all between 202 and 205 yards so hopefully that 200-yard club is having a good day. They are very good holes but would benefit from a change in length. Most holes allow a choice of shot shape off the tee, except for the tree-challenged 1st, 9th, 10th, and 14th which all discourage a draw. Greens are generally very well protected either by rustic bunkers or water hazards with only the 1st, 3rd, and 13th allowing a non-lofted approach to any pin position. The 7th, 8th, 10, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th all demand a lofted approach to a solitary green regardless of pin location while the remaining holes permit any type of approach to at least some part of the green. Teton Pines is a surprisingly challenging course with trees in play off several tees and abundant water hazards protecting fairways and many greens. Natural areas also impact poorly struck balls and will lead to unexpected scores above par. Many long holes are somewhat shortened by the 6,200-foot elevation, but still require precise, high shots to take advantage. The guarded greens and surrounding bunkers are not extremely difficult but provide plenty of challenges with subtle undulations and reasonable pace. There are very few easy shots at Teton Pines from off the tee to in the hole. It is almost impossible to not be aesthetically pleasing when playing a course near Jackson Hole. Teton Pines certainly does not disappoint. Whether majestic mountain peaks or abundant wildlife cavorting on the course (we saw 2 foxes, 2 enormous bull Moose, and an elk), Teton Pines delivers a beautiful golfing experience even though it is a resort course surrounded by homes and condominiums. Fortunately, none of the housing intrudes onto the course and minimally detracts from the appeal. Teton Pines is in very good condition with firm, receptive greens which rolled true from all areas. Fairways were firm, even after some prior day rain while the bunkers were consistent and well-sanded. Teton Pines is a very fun round of golf with plenty of challenge for all levels of golfer. While busy and perhaps a bit slow paced, the quality of the course, the scenic beauty, and abundant wildlife on display make Teton pines a course well worth visiting when in the Jackson Hole area."

“A wonderful renovation over the last 2 years. Tee placements make it enjoyable for all players. All greens are very large but are quite varied in configuration and difficulty. setting in Jackson is a definite plus. The best course I have rated this year. If you get a chance to play it I definitely would. A walkable course which is a definite plus."

“A good Palmer course but the views of the Tetons are better than the course design."
