Indian Canyon Golf Course

Overview

Indian Canyon sits high above Spokane, offering terrific views of the city below. It’s a challenging layout, with narrow, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. In 1945 and 1947, Indian Canyon hosted a PGA Tour event, with Byron Nelson winning in 1945. The undulating track has also hosted three USGA championships: two U.S. Amateur Public Links and one U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links.

Review

“Indian Canyon has good bones, including a good routing and hilly terrain. The view from the clubhouse beats anything on the course, admittedly. The trees have gotten so big that it gets narrow in spots. It is still a municipal course -- play was painfully slow when we were there."

“Wonderful layout. Ben Hogan said the fifth green was as difficult as any green at Augusta. Very hilly and undulating providing tremendous variety in the layout. The course is owned by the City of Spokane and conditioning is good. With some love this course would be truly great."

“Interesting layout with some great elevation changes and course routing. Really good option for a public course. Historically significant in that it hosted a PGA tour event in the 1940s that was won by Byron Nelson with Ben Hogan as the runner-up."
