Overview
This par-70 resort course hosted the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson for 35 years. Aesthetics are very high with several uses of very natural-looking water hazards/creeks that blend in seamlessly to holes. The Four Seasons feel is evident all around, especially with consistently good conditioning. Large green complexes put a premium on approach shots, and if the wind is up, this can turn into a difficult test.

“Former Byron Nelson tour sight originally designed by Jay Morrish and later redesigned by D.A. Weibring. Water features and hard to read greens present most of the challenge here. Holes 14 and 17 highlight the back nine. Staff is very accommodating and welcoming. Always fun to test yourself where the pros have teed it up. Definately worth a visit."

“Good resort course. Great conditions. Challenging depending on the tee you play. Played Byron Nelson PGA tour event here for 35 years"

“TPC Las Colinas at the Four Seasons in Irving, Texas is a solid, but unspectacular test of resort golf. With generally large, accommodating fairways and relatively short at 6,832 yards, albeit at a par 70 from the back tees, TPC Las Colinas is an atypical TPC course. There are few of the extravagant features or unique holes found at other TPC properties. Without the gimmickry of many TPC courses, and due to its short length, TPC Las Colinas is not particularly difficult for a scratch player, unless of course the wind is blowing hard and the rough is extra-long. My rating conditions were benign, but I can certainly imagine it to be a more strenuous test with more typical weather conditions. The layout rolls through gentle elevation changes with flat and a few downhill holes. The course requires the ability to control your ball flight due to the even mix of 6 dogleg left and 6 dogleg right holes. As expected with a short course, only 2 holes would be considered relatively long in today's game, the par 4 8th and 15th, with the remainder being mostly mid-length. Green complexes are generally accessible either with lofted shots or low runners, especially if targeting the middle, except for the 5th, 6th and 14th which require a high ball regardless of pin position due to water fronting #5 and #14 and a large frontside bunker on #6. Greens are well-bunkered to capture any wayward approaches but none of the bunkers are particularly penal. The greens themselves are not overly sloped or crowned and held well-struck shots without any overly aggressive bad bounces. TPC Las Colinas is in very good condition with tightly mown, quick fairways. Greens were also very good, firm but fair and rolled at a typical resort speed, not too fast or too slow. Putts were consistently true, especially given the amount of resort play. Bunkers were well-sanded and uniform in playing characteristics with good strokes being rewarded. TPC Las Colinas is a fun course to play but not exceptionally challenging or unique. The 17th and 18th holes are aesthetically attractive with small waterfalls in view, so the finish is strong. With many holes in close proximity to houses/apartments/condo, TPC Las Colinas feels like what it is, a resort course close to a large metropolitan area, good but no more."
