Overview
The East Course at the Omni PGA Frisco is one of two courses to open at the new Fields Ranch Golf Club. Alongside the Beau Welling-designed West course is the East, built by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner, which measures over 7,800 yards from the championship tees and puts a greater emphasis on driving than the West, demanding length, accuracy and the courage to take on cross-bunkers and central hazards. The greens, perched above bunkers and chipping runoffs, are smaller and require controlled approaches, and the holes of the second nine prowl the basin of Panther Creek. Both courses opened in May 2023, and the East has already hosted the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. It is set to host a number of other prestigious events, including the PGA Championship (2027, 2034), the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship (2025, 2031) and the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship again in 2029.

“Hanse designed a course for the pros and analytical game of today with the creative and seemingly omnipresent use of red stakes. With that said, and if you keep that in mind, it's a really interesting golf course."

“Really good golf course with a nice selection of holes with a variety of shots required. Course was in great shape but maybe a little too much watering around the greens. Hard to play a bump and run due to dampness around the greens."

“This upscale public course is one of two courses at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, both of which opened in 2023. Fields Ranch East course was designed by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner and meanders thru rolling hills and Panther Creek runs throughout the course. The green complexes are challenging for all levels of players. Fairways are generous, and rough can be challenging. The course plays long, especially depending on the winds. A good test and worthy of the championship golf events that have a been and will be held here in the future. Major Championships include: 2025 KMPG Women’s PGA Championship 2027 PGA Championships 2029 Senior PGA Championships 2031 KMPG Women’s PGA Championship 2034 PGA Championship"

“* Tie-in approaches from tee to green done very well. Since it being designed as a championship course, the pros will enjoy the walks straight onto the back tees. * 18 is a controversial hole that plays to an angled island fairway where the ball is prone to running long into the water. The second shot will always be a layup with a wedge shot needed on the third shot. Each of the par 5's are not gettable for the scratch player easily and each one features a narrow landing area where one would lay back with a 200 yard second shot. * There are not many angles featured on the tee shot. Dog legs are subtle and many holes play on the flat part of the property in contrast to the West course. * Impressed with the turf conditions given just over a year of grow in. The course played firm and fast. One caveat was that the approaches seemed to stick on the short iron shots in front of the greens at times and wouldn't allow you to bounce the ball on. * There are many lines of play on each of the holes contributing to the high shot options. It felt like it would take a few rounds to really understand what the best way to play certain holes would be. * Notable holes are #7 (plays similar to Augusta #3 with the green shape and shorter par 4), #13 (long par 3 to big green with many pin placements changing the club and strategy dramatically) & #15 (short par 4 with bunkers fronting perched green with a back bowl to funnel wedge shots to)"

“A championship test shouldn't be this fun! The East course walks the line between difficulty and fun better than almost any other course I've played before. The fairways are almost a perfect mix of width and narrowness - the proper angles still matter on some shots - lots of angles to play aggressive or conservative. Their are scoring opportunities and ball-busters. Besides being absolutely gigantic and spread out, it's really a course I'd enjoy playing over and over. - feel like 9 and 18 are kind of stinky holes and leave a bit of sour taste after each 9 - 7 and 15 are driveable par 4s and not sure they're the best examples of that type of hole as laying up would almost always be a worse option than driver - but they are both super fun, espeically 15 - the back 9 starts with 4 absolute monster holes, with hazards down the right the entire way it's a slicers nightmare - the entire vibe is a little off as you're just surrounded by homes/construction as far as the eye can see. It's a little dystopian"

“The entire Fields Ranch complex is top class with not only the championship golf course, but a 2nd course that won't eat your lunch quite as bad and also a par 3 course and putting course to add to it. Fields Ranch East is vast, large, and wide. It reminded me of the Erin Hills of Texas. Be patient, choose the correct club from the tee to set you up for this 2nd shot golf course where hitting the correct side of the green or missing in the right places is of the utmost importance. Pace of play is fairly slow so be ready for a 5 hour day or more."

“Difficult course - high lip bunkers, long in the wind, green complexes unique hole to hole. Plays longer than yardage says. Surprising items around the greens with contours and funnels. Works the property very well with solid mix of differentiated holes. Missing a signature, wow moment par 3."

“A beast of a course that looks much easier than it is, especially if the wind is blowing. Large fairways and chipping areas around the greens visually give a sense of ease, but undulations and small firm sloping greens limit scoring opportunities. Easy to find the short grass around the course, but hard to find the right areas that open up scoring chances. Holes 13-15 are as good a stretch as you will find in North Texas."
