Cabot Saint Lucia: Point Hardy Golf Club
Overview
Located on the extreme northern tip of Saint Lucia, Point Hardy is as far from the Caribbean island’s southside airport as possible. But the drive over the jungle pass is worth it as nine holes sit on rocky ocean bluffs, rivaling and even surpassing Pebble Beach and Cypress Point for drama and beauty. Architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw were far out of their comfort zone working on the site of volcanic rock that required earthmoving on a scale unprecedented for them. The engineering succeeded in taming the more extreme parts of the land to give the inland holes a serene playability that looks natural. The reason golfers will travel half way around the world to play here, however, is for the chance to hit do-or-die shots over coves of crashing waves at holes eight, 15, 16, 17 and 18.
