Overview
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the 1960s, the Jones course was the first of the three to open at Palmetto Dunes Resort. The original layout is also the most forgiving of the three from tee to green, with wide fairways and large greens that have gentle slopes. Though most holes play inland, winding through lagoons and palmetto trees, the par-5 10th plays directly toward the Atlantic Ocean, with the green set against the beach. Before your round, make sure to check out the Toptracer driving range, which tracks your ball flight and gives you some key metrics.

“Had not played this course in almost 40 years, but it was just as I remember it… A very solid layout with some really pretty golf balls in particular those on the back nine playing along the saltwater creek. Condition of the golf course was excellent, and it was very playable for the average golfer as I remembered it. It was fun and open Enough to be challenging off the tee yet not punishing. I think a must play for any visitors to Hilton Head"

“I was told that the Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes was the "prettiest course on the lsland". Not sure I'd go quite that far but it's a very strong golf course that has a wonderful stretch at the beginning of the back nine that's both very pretty and very demanding. I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Hilton Head."

“This is a nice course which charges a substantial premium because you can see the ocean from one hole. The rest of the course is nice and fun to play but does not warrant the significant premium they charge."

“The course was well conditioned as the greens rolled very true; however, not that fast (maybe a 9 or 10). The layout was challenging but not overly difficult. Only real disappointment was hole #18 as it sort of felt like an after thought in the course design. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable round of golf and the staff was extremely friendly."
