“Nice variety of challenging par 3's. Narrow rolling fairways with deep greenside bunkering and undulating greens. Picturesque holes out to and along Calibogue sound between Hilton Head and Daufuskie Islands. The ferry ride is a fun way to start the day and enhances the anticipation of the round. Several marsh carries and prevailing winds make play a challenge. A real pleasure to play and a great experience."

“The course sits in a unique setting for this Rees Jones design, which suffers from a few non-descript holes, intermixed with some spectacular holes either over or around water, or facing the ocean. The Par 3s are notable and consistently strong, esp #8, #15, #17, but #5 is a also a stunning backdrop. Strong drives over wetlands are required on a number of holes, with #9 and #18 standing out. Bunkering is excellent throughout. Demanding for a high handicapper (because of water, forced carries, and bunkers), but a low handicapper can score well."

“Like stepping back in time to play this wonderful island course. Conditioning was great and greens were receptive and true. Was able to hold the green with a 6 iron that checked within 6 feet of where it landed. Difficult par threes into the prevailing wind played 3 clubs longer than normal. Fun risk-reward par 5 closing hole with risk on both the drive (cutting the corner) and the second shot over a hazard. While not accounted for in the evaluation, it was a great experience getting to the course via ferry and traveling from the welcome center through the Spanish moss draped tree-lined road to the clubhouse."

“Haig Point is an interesting, all-day experience that begins with a ferry ride from Hilton Head to Dafuskie Island. The island itself is beautiful with fantastic views of the low country and large, picturesque southern mansions lining the course. This Rees Jones design was opened in the 1980s and soon populated Golf Digest's Top 100 lists. After playing the course, it's hard to imagine how this is possible. There are some beautiful views from the golf course and it is not easy, but the design is overall quite bland with only a few holes I could remember just hours after playing. The par threes all play along the water and are the best holes on the course, but play similarly in terms of challenge and distance and lack in variety. There are a number of doglegs that do provide shot options, but many of these feel forced and quite narrow."

“This Rees Jones layout provides a unique golfing experience on Daufuskie Island across the Calibogue Sound from Hilton Head Island. The course is heavily tree lined and plays over wetlands and marsh areas. The course is relatively flat with several subtle dog legs that put importance on drive location. Most holes provide numerous shot options to attack the pin. Several holes provide excellent views of the Calibogue Sound. The greens are relatively flat with subtle undulations. The par 3s are a highlight of the course and provide beautiful background views of the water. Two of the par 3s provide two options. The first option offers a par 3 without a forced carry while the second option offers a forced carry over marshland, each option has a separate green. The Haig Point experience will require a ferry ride from Hilton Head to Daufuskie Island and then a shuttle to the golf course. The idyllic surrounds enhance an enjoyable golfing experience."

“Great experience and day, including the ferry ride and golf. Fairly unique to the world of golf and well worth the extra effort if you get the opportunity. The Calibogue/Haig set up is fairly unique too, but works pretty well to allow increased flexibility of set-up."
