Overview
The Golf Course at Glen Mills sits about 40 minutes from downtown Philadelphia, but the tumbling topography make this public course one of the best options in the Philly area. “A beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of Philly,” one panelist says. There is a nice mix of open holes and ones that require more precise ball-striking. The course is cut into a valley and presents a lot of elevation change. Sprawling bunkers add uncertainty to many shots, as the bunkers and elevation change can make depth perception difficult.

“Glen Mills is a very interesting public course just west of Philadelphia on a hilly and densely forested property. It is not the longest course, but features plenty of elevation changes and gorgeous bunkering that reminds me a lot of Pete Dye's style and contribute to difficulty. While conditioning was just okay, the course is quite pretty and overall fun with some great variety. It is too tight in places (6, 8, 11, 17) and the not great golfer will lose some balls here. From what I've seen this is one of the best public courses in the area."

“Cut into a deep valley with elevation changes throughout. Dramatic bunkering provides depth perception issues and increases the challenge. Foliage and woods growing in are beginning to affect play. Green contours and size provided many pinning options and challenging positions. Rough was about 4-5 inches long and detracted from the playability of the course."

“A small piece of public property that required demanding shots of length and finesse. Good condition. A unique feature were two Raynor template holes, Redan and Biarritz."

“Outstanding public golf course offering a variety of challenges on a beautiful, natural site with excellent elevation changes. Well-bunkered with trees, creeks, and ponds bordering some holes; it is not overly long and has several sets of tees to accommodate most golfers. Highly recommended."

“Relatively short course. Conditions were just ok when I played. Back 9 more interesting than the front."

“A good option for public golf. The course is wooded and scenic. There is also some elevation change which ads to the experience. Conditioning was good."
