“Kennett Square is a really nice club. The course has a very nice set of greens and the bunkering is also a standout."

“Some interesting Ross green complexes, nice conditioning and a fun day if you can play it. With more length, it would be more interesting for low handicaps if played more than once."

“A short, but fast Donald Ross course that plays firm/fast for much of the calendar year. A true "build the course on the land as it is" there was not a lot of earth moving on this course. From a challenge perspective, it plays as a pure "second shot" golf course with fairway contours and undulating fast greens serving as the primary defense. There was a bit of redundancy with holes 1 and 10, and the par 5s were on the shorter side creating strong scoring opportunities on both 9s. What this course lacks in acreage, they more than make up for it by prioritizing distance control, spot play, and rarely an even lie. The tougher holes on the course require strategy constructed from green to tee as those who try to overpower the course often find themselves in extremely difficult placements for green approach. The recent bunker project offered a big increase in playability to the membership, with a decision to flatten and square off all bunkers throughout the course. This Donald Ross has a great bit of charm and variety in their holes and routing, and offers a plethora of shot options into every green."

“The old Donald Ross design is a nice track that is playable for all handicaps. At only 6415 from the tips, length is not an issue in getting around the course. The changes in elevation and some twist and turns hold your interest."

“A nice lay of the land Ross course with elevation changes, strategic bunkers, and receptive quick greens."

“Built in 1922, this original Donald Ross 9 hole design made the most of a small property. The original 9 holes were 1,2,8,11,12,17,9,10,18 and were all located on the south side of the property. Since 1940, Kennett expanded to 18 holes (including 5 holes across the road), also designed by Donald Ross. The course, relatively short only playing 6416 yards from the Black tees, features a good mix of short and medium sized holes and a mix of doglegs moving the holes left and right, challenging the player to make shot shapes in order to have scorable situations. The bunkering is classic Donald Ross and are strategically placed on most holes exactly where the "bail out" position is. In 2022, all of the bunkers were redone to the orignal design, and in an unique feature, most of the bunkers were shaped in a rectangular design. The defense of the course is and always has been the greens. Very undulating and kept on the faster side in order to counter balance the shortness of the course."
