“Unique layout with 27 greens and a reversible routing. Each course uses 18 greens but the routing is entirely different on alternate days. Designed to be fun rather than a big challenge and it succeeds. Very forgiving off the tee but offers many good second and third shot options. Built on a 144,000 acre cattle and goat ranch that has been around for over 100 years. Hard to get to but definitely worth spending a couple days. Great community dinners in the lodge."

“Excellent golf facility with 2 18-hole reversible course and 2 par 3 9-hole courses. One of the most remote locations I've traveled to. Worthwhile playing at least once and stay at local hotel off-site if you wish to save money."

“As you arrive at The Retreat and Links at Silvies Valley Ranch in the high desert of Eastern Oregon, you are greeted at the Gate House with refreshments ready. After your car is checked at the gate and you check in to one of 34 exceptional western style guest rooms, some of which are cabins, you are provided with your own personal golf cart to use throughout the ranch during your stay. Also provided is a walkie-talkie so you can communicate with everyone during your stay. There is no cell phone reception at the ranch; Wi-Fi is available. Four golf courses are available to experience. Two fabulous reversible 18 hole golf courses that are played on consecutive days, The Craddock Course is played clockwise and the Hankins Course is played counter-clockwise. They are carved into the natural contours of the land with views that seem to go on forever, and silence like you’ve never heard. McVeigh’s Gauntlet 7 hole challenge course, which opened in July of 2018, is a place you can go to play after your round to settle your bets. A goat caddie will accompany you! Yes, a real live goat is your caddie! A fun par 3 course known as the Chief Egan Course is a great place to sharpen your shorter game skills. The golf at Silvies Valley is a thoughtful creation, as nothing has been overlooked. Even the cart paths are designed to be grass paths to keep the dust down. The caddie shack is the home of the goat caddies. The chandelier in the pro shop is made out of persimmon golf clubs. The Pro Shop extends and opens out to where you dine for breakfast and lunch with views of the course, wilderness and mountains. Aside from golf, there is a long list of activities to enjoy during your stay. Silvies Valley Ranch is a 140,000 acre working livestock ranch. A guided ranch tour, fishing, biking, hiking, shooting, horseback riding, bird watching, wine tasting, scotch tasting, and homestead tours are some of the enjoyment choices. A spa and fitness center with a lap pool is also there for your relaxation. An observatory is planned for the near future to take advantage of Silvies Valley having no light pollution...a view of the stars like you’ve rarely seen. Fill your down time with a game of pool, ping pong or horseshoes. After a day of fun and excitement, the ranch house is where you go for the family style 7-course dinner that follows the cocktail hour. A rich experience of fine culinary offering, the food is exceptional and it is from the ranch. After dinner, join the guests at the fire pit for drinks and s’mores. Stay awake to star gaze. Everyone at the ranch is very personable, accommodating and welcoming. Leaving was difficult as the experience was so life enriching. A beautiful place, an exceptional experience of nature and wilderness, The Retreat and Links at Silvies Valley is like no other."
