Overview
Shaker Run is a 27-hole public facility situated between Dayton and Cincinnati. The southwest Ohio track hosted the 2005 U.S. Amateur Public Links, when Anthony Kim was the stroke-play medalist. The original course consists of the Woodlands and Lakeside nines, which play quite different. The Woodlands is a tight, tree-lined design demanding accuracy while the lakeside is more open. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry added the Meadows nine in 1999.

“The layout has several doglegs, which presents the golfer with a multitude of shot and club options, depending on how confident/aggressive a golfer is with each shot faced. In addition to the numerous doglegs, a stretch of holes on the Woodlands 9 cuts through a heavily wooded area, which puts an emphasis on accuracy."

“Nice golf course just north of Cincinnati. The Woodlands and Lakeside nines play very different. Definitely some great holes on this course. Mainly the Par 3's. Unfortunately course condition is very average and sort of beat up."

“Shaker Run is a public course with 27 holes that is located just north of Cincinnati. It is an excellent value for a public course. The layout evaluated was the original 18 holes, Woodlands-Lakeside. The Woodlands nine holes plays through a heavily wooded area with a very good variety of holes using elevation change to keep interest. The course is just over 6800 yards and offers a good variety of short holes and longer holes. There were six holes that required medium to long iron approach shots. The layout design and challenge certainly is much better because of this variety and difficulty. The shot options are also nearly excellent because there is a large number of shots that force you to make a decision off the tee. The 9th and 18th holes are outstanding holes with the player making a decision of how much water to challenge on the tee shot. Both holes are doglegs around a lake with a green sitting near the water. They are mirror images of each other with one moving right and the other moving left. Excellent design and interest. The greens were not too demanding but small by today's standards forcing the player to be accurate. A miss on the wrong side made it difficult to get up and down with the gentle slopes. The par 5 holes are very good and allow for scoring opportunities with a good tee shot. The distinctiveness is very good, but marked down slightly due to a course change that is occurring. Fourteen of the holes have an interesting design and offers many unique shots including a severe downhill par 3, long and short par 4s, and shots with water. However, the other four holes are being redesigned because of new housing development. It is not helping the overall course, but I am sure the economics make it important. The aesthetics are very good. The trees and the views of the lakes make it pleasing. The conditioning of the course is very good. Similar to other courses in this part of the country. The summer heat and humidity are brutal. The fairways were very fast and bouncy, but the greens must be nurtured and kept slow as to not lose them. The greens were in good condition for this time of year. The character of the course is very good. It is marked down slightly because of the intrusion of the housing development, but for the most part the course is committed to public golf and doing it well. This course is fun and a great value to play."

“Was my favorite course in Ohio for years. Played the Woodlands/Lakeside combo in 2018 and was shocked. The conditioning of the course has improved, but the back 9 has been destroyed. There is construction of condominiums up against fairways bunkers and tees and the 16th hole, a beautiful long dogleg par 4 now has houses built on the tee and a road into what remains and plays like a weird blind not par 4 and too long for a par 3. It is a real shame what happened to this course. Hard to assign numbers given the change and the construction is just beginning so it will likely get worse."
