“A classic Donald Ross layout that has lost some of it's luster by not replacing trees that have been removed for various reasons. The river bottom holes of particular note with the issue. Wall to wall bent grass with super fast greens."

“This private, old Donald Ross course flies below the radar simply because it is in Columbus, where Muirfield Village, The Golf Club, Scioto, and Double Eagle shine. But don't overlook this course; it is definitely worth a visit if you can get on. A recent restoration cleared unnecessary trees, and the greens are lightning fast, with significant slope and movement. A ton of fun to play, and with the back tees at over 7,000 yards, a stern test. Definitely a must-play in the Columbus area."

“Well worth playing. The renovations of this Ross course are a tremendous success, with thousands of trees removed, improving sight lines and especially course conditions. The course flows, with some modest elevation changes. It is a great Ross course that has been brought back to life."

“A great golf course to play while in the Columbus area. A Donald Ross design that provided a challenging test. Built on two distinct levels, the course offers a variety of shot options and possesses a tremendous amount of character. The layout is unique and impressive as the course plays on those two distinct levels as it was built in an old quarry. I would regard this course as a candidate for consideration to be included on the best in state list."

“Columbus Country Club is an outstanding representation of a Donald Ross layout recently restored/renovated by a skilled modern architect, Keith Foster. The course plays into, along, and on top of a 30-foot embankment from an old creekbed, and this feature provides the course with quite a bit of character, as no fewer than 11 holes interact with the edge of the dropoff. Holes 1-3 play down into the ravine and back out of it, and holes 5-7 are on the lower level also. The 11th green is located just on the far side of a shallow arm of the ravine, and holes 12-14 play back down before rising back to the upper level on hole 15. The remaining holes rely mainly on bunkering for interest, and while less memorable, they provide plenty of challenge as well. Perhaps an unpopular take, but I'd rather play here than Muirfield Village!"

“Really fun golf course to play, with excellent starting few par fours! You will play six par fours to start the course, but then the variety starts to pick up. Enjoy this course if you can get there"
