“The Old Course at Trump National Golf Club-Bedminster is a Tom Fazio design that opened in 2004. The course is built on rolling topography just west of New York City. The course is characterized by deep bunkers; speedy, undulating greens, and long, thick rough which could easily host a Major Championship which it was slated to do in 2022. Although tough, the course is playable and offers many options around the greens with its closely mowed areas. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Always say "yes" if offered the opportunity to play a round here."

“I was disappointed in this Trump. I thought it played like a mid tier Fazio design that left a lot of potential on the table because the property is so intriguing. I did however think the 12th hole was a truly exceptional par 4 and I appreciated the many tightly mowed areas around the greens for the variety of recovery shots they allowed. The bunkering felt maximalist for the sake of maximalism, as did some of the green contouring. Also the routing was disconnected and contrived. True, the property at Trump Bedminster is vast and sprawling but although the layout tries to create the impression of grandeur, it never actually inspires awe."

“Supposedly Trump's favorite of his courses, Bedminster is an impressive facility with all the amenities and practice facilities you'd expect from a Club of this caliber. The prized course at this 36-hole Club is the "Old Course" built by Tom Fazio in 2004. This is a very challenging course clearly designed with tournaments in mind, and unsurprisingly it hosted the 2009 U.S. Junior Am, 2017 U.S. Women's Open and was slated to host the 2022 PGA before politics got in the way. In terms of challenging the world's best, Bedminster does a very good job. The conditioning is also excellent, as are the aesthetics with plenty of water, views of the surrounding hills, and classic Fazio bunkering. Risk/reward opportunities come at the par fives (1, 8, 15, and 18) as well as the shorter par fours such as 2, but much of the course is demanding and there's only one way to play each hole. With how polarizing a figure Trump is, it's sometimes hard to get an accurate assessment of his courses, but Trump Bedminster Old is an objectively excellent course and facility and certainly worth a play if given the chance."
