“Hominy Hill is a good municipal course with an interesting story. The course originally opened as a Robert Trent Jones design built for one man, Henry Mercer. Only Mercer's family and friends could play and it was one of the most private courses in the world. When Mercer passed away, he gave the course to the County and now it is among NJ's better public offerings. The course features a nice layout over gently rolling hills along the Jersey Shore. The conditions are solid but the course could benefit from some tree removal. Memorable holes include the strong dogleg left 8th, the marathon par 5 9th, and the lengthy par 5 14th concluding over water. I do not think Hominy Hill is a top 10 public course in the state, but it is not too far behind and is a great option for Monmouth County residents."
