“Abenaqui is one of the premier private layouts in Southern New Hampshire, with a long history with 19th century roots. Today's course is the result of many renovations and modernizations, which means it has a modern feel. Today's course is solid and interesting but lacks the pizzaz that many post-"restovation" courses have today. For example, its best hole is the drivable 300-yard 15th, but the green is completely blind off the tee with deep woods on both sides. Like many older New England courses, the front nine is primarily wide open over what appears to be an old farm, while the back nine plays more through the woods, with some modern holes tacked on at the end. The 18th is the showcase hole playing around a large pond, but the demands feel more like Bay Hill than old New England."
