“Conditioning at the CC of Asheville has improved significantly since the take over by McConnell Golf. Historic golf course that has a nice variety of hole designs. Defense of the golf course is the green complexes, with slopes that can be severe on some holes. That severity probably prevents the greens superintendent from cutting the greens to a very fast speed because anything faster than 10 would make several hole placements unfair. Fun course to play, not particularly challenging for the low handicap player as long as they are good wedge players."

“This old Donald Ross course was recently renovated. The first couple holes are interesting but holes four through seven are not. They are played over some very flat and uninteresting ground. The course gets good beginning with number eight. The terrain becomes hilly and the holes exceptional."
