Overview
Situated in the dense forested mountains outside of Asheville is the timeless 1922 Donald Ross-designed golf course at Biltmore Forest Country Club. The course is known for its exceptional yet difficult conditions, highlighted by undulating and tree-lined zoysia fairways with extensive bunkering and ticklish bentgrass greens. In recent years, architect Brian Silva has undertaken major renovations aimed at returning the Ross’ original bunkering and characteristics. This is evident at the challenging par-4 10th and 12th that now require pinpoint accuracy if one hopes to avoid the penal cross-bunkers dotted throughout the fairways.

“Classic Donald Ross greens in a mountain setting. The variety in shot shapes and distances the tee shots require will keep one on their toes as to where they want to hit each shot. Many shots will roll to a low point no matter how soon you may think it would stop. It's fun yet still challenging, and the conditions are immaculate."

“Fun course to play with a lot of character. Fairways are almost always running firm and fast which strongly influences the shots you must play. Having 8 par 4's on the back 9 felt a little quirky but they are all good holes. Course is worth checking out for sure."

“Mountain golf just outside Asheville, NC, that has a lot elevation change from start to finish. Biltmore Forest CC comprises some memorable short par 3's, and some very challenging long par 4 holes. The green complexes provide variety throughout the round, and gives the ability to utilize the approaches and surrounds to run and bounce balls to different sections of the greens."

“This is a great club. It is very private and if you get an invite jump on it. The Donald Ross course has been remodeled a number of times but there is still a lot of Ross left in it. The course is very hilly. After all, it is in Asheville. The conditioning is excellent and it is a joy to play."
