Overview
The original 18 at Windsong Farm west of Minneapolis, designed by John Fought and Tom Lehman in 2003 and now called the South Course, is a big, demanding players’ course that stretches over 7,500 yards. The club brought Fought back to the site in 2023 to build a second course, the North, but with a different mandate: make it unique. Fought channeled Seth Raynor for architectural inspiration to create a crafty, fun 6,500-yard layout the jazzes up an ordinary plot of agricultural land. The design gives us recognizable versions of holes like the Eden, Biarritz, Bottle and Cape, but they’re mixed with imaginative strategic looks like the 306-yard ninth with a string of echelon bunkers short of the green and several holes that call for approaches over wetland canals that are just long enough to force players into uncomfortable decision-making mode.

“This is an unusual course layout for the midwest. There isn't a tree on the course and the wind can be a real challenge. Although the fairways are reasonably generous, marsh land and penalty strokes threaten both left and right on most of the holes."

“Fun course. Not long, yet quite challenging. Cannot wait to play it again when it grows in."

“Course in incredible condition after just opening. Course opens and closes with two difficult holes. Par 3s holes 2 and 4 are world class green complexes - including a Biarritz green. Six par 3s make for an interesting round. Course flows well minus one tee shot back over the prior green feeling out of place. Not demanding off the tee, but greens require some quality shots into them but allows a variety of shot shapes and heights into the greens."

“Nice compliment to the South course... North course is really fun to play, nice variety of holes and green complexes. The par 4 18th is a monster at 486 yards from the tips! Great walk and solid conditioning!"

“The course wanders gently around a central wetland that adds enormous natural beauty to the site. Wide fairways provide an endless variety of options to attack greens, which utilize subtle elevation changes and run offs for defense instead of severe bunkering, giving the impression that greens are more approachable than play ultimately suggests. A nice mix of classic holes, such as the Biarritz par three 4th, with some unique looks, including the par-three 13th. Challenging, playable and fun."

It was inspired by old school architecture and features Redan, cape holes, and a Biarritz It has rolling terrain, wetlands and several forced carries over long grassy areas"
