Overview
Less than 45 minutes west of Ann Arbor, Grande Golf Club is a hidden gem in the Michigan public golf scene. The course has plenty of design variety, with large, uniquely shaped bunkers, scenic wetlands and tricky greens. The split fairway at the par-4 18th asks players to pick a side from which to attack the closing hole.

“Grande GC in Jackson Michigan is off the beaten path. An interesting piece of property amongst the corn fields & a failed neighborhood. Position off the tee is a non factor, wide fairways with a sprinkling of bunkers set back from the fairway. The course is very wet & soft, no rain in a number of days. The most challenging part on the back 9 was the swarms of mosquitoes. Similar to the front 9, little imagination in mostly straight holes with a few green side bunkers that don’t really come into play. However, the green complexes were amazing! Varying sizes & shapes of the green with no 2 alike. The 4th hole is a short par 5 with a Redan green! The 10th hole green is 60 yards long & very narrow. Many of the greens have spines that help divide the green into multiple quadrants with many locations for pin. Multiple options around the greens for recovery shots. I never expected this country golf course to have such amazing characteristics with their green complexes!"

“Realizing there is a lot of great golf in Michigan, this course is kind of tucked away and under the radar. Some really interesting and fun hole designs, especially the back 9. A fair amount of strategic decision making is needed as the green complex is really good, very large greens with moderate breaks but many multi level greens and not just front to back. Greens with ridges up the middle and one side significantly higher than the other. More than an average number of split fairways and where the pins are located pushes your decision where to aim your tee shot. The options for pin placements are very wide, and can make the course really hard. Walking the course would be hard because there are long distances between several holes."
