Overview
Gil Hanse's team completed renovation on the 12th and 13th holes at TPC Boston in 2017, completing a 10-plus-year project in which Hanse's team attempted to reestablish a New England-type style to the course. The course, which sits about 45 minutes from downtown Boston, was the longtime host of a FedEx Cup Playoff event on the PGA Tour.

“TPC is a bit of a bipolar course - one part Arnold Palmer championship course designed to host PGA tournaments and one part more whimsical, fun Gil Hanse redesign. Between the two designers, the course still plays more on the challenging side that demands particular shots in certain places and doesn't necessarily have the start to finish shot options of some other Hanse renovations of classic, golden era courses. However, the new 17th hole is a particular stand out. Definitely worth playing if you are invited; probably not worth a dedicated trip just to see and play."

“TPC Boston is a long and demanding course from the back tees, with a variety of long/short par 3s and 4s. Scoreable par 5s with some forced carries. Great conditions with firm and fast greens. The new 12th hole adds challenge and design variety (played in 2018 before the redesign and again 2021 & 2023 after). Great to play a New England course that has hosted the PGA Tour's best. Very playable from the appropriate tees, and a great test of golf from the tips. Conditions and practice facilities will wow you."

“The changes to the course by Gil Hanse from the original Arnold Palmer design have really produced a solid championship, PGA tour course in the Boston area. While it is not like the classic design Hanse incorporated into nearby Boston Golf Club, it is an interesting take on a modern course with several looks of a classic course. While the course is not overly challenging, it is certainly not a pushover."
