Overview
The facility is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year. About 25 minutes south of Boston, South Shore has some nice rolling topography—with a bowling alley, sports bar and simulators to make this a great place to hang down the road from Boston Golf Club, a private Gil Hanse design on our America’s 100 Greatest ranking.

“South Shore is a formerly-private course in Hingham, MA that can be counted among Wayne Stiles' best layouts. The town of Hingham has spent years sprucing up the place to the point that this is one of the best municipally-run courses in the state. They are even to the point where the greens have been extended to the edges of their former fillpads, so they are getting even the small details right! Rollicking holes abound, and this is great land for golf, as there are few clunker holes (we won't talk about #14). My favorites are the side-by-side #3 and #12 over wild ground, and the run from #15 to the end, a par five that turns right and uphill, a mid-length par four with wild undulation in the fairway and an even wilder green, an uphill par three surrounded by bunkers, and the short par five 18th with a borderline unfair back to front green, maybe appropriate for a par five reachable by many players."
