“When Donald Ross first came to America, he proceeded directly to Oakley Country Club, where he promptly got to work on modernizing the original rudimentary course. This was to be the first of 400+ design projects all around North America over the next 47 years. Oakley today is similar to Ross's layout, the routing is roughly 90% the same, and the character of the course still embodies Ross and golden age shot values. At only 6100 yards over 85ish acres, the course today embodies how today's technology has made many classic courses obsolete. This is not to say there aren't plenty of shots to get the blood moving at Oakley, namely all the par three tee shots, and any second shot to a par five. Unfortunately there is a tendency to keep the greens running on the edge of sanity, which may cause some of the green slopes to be softened in the future, but greens on the edge may be a necessity to challenge better players."

“Donald Ross first golf course in America. Fun golf course. Short routing on 88 acres. Must make shots to score."
