Overview
Located fifteen miles east of Wichita on the western perimeter of its namesake Flint Hills prairie region, Tom Fazio incorporated gently rolling terrain, prairie grasses, and a meandering body of water into the design. The course features generous zoysia fairways flanked by penal bluegrass rough, with fast, highly contoured greens broken into multiple tiers and a naturalistic bunker style that matches the broad prairie environment. Stretching over 7000 yards with five par 3s, the highly walkable routing shows off a variety of native wildlife. Owner Tom Devlin is a fervent supporter of amateur golf, and Flint Hills has hosted three USGA national championships and a variety of other amateur competitions.

“A well designed private club which had groupings of holes, 1-6 and 10-12 that returned to the clubhouse for partial rounds."

“Flint Hills National is a solid if unspectacular Fazio layout that brings modern challenge and an ever-present wind to an area starving on great golf other than Prairie Dunes. The club was presented as a bit of a hot commodity, when its course style has become a bit passe' at this point, so I don't see it that way now. The course has been updated and softened by Fazio recently, but there are other places the inspire quite a bit more."

“Tom Fazio design in southern Kansas that is fun to play. Tall prairie grasses and multiple water features enhance the beauty of the course. A welcoming membership and an attentive staff make this a must play if you happen to receive an invitation."

“Beautiful course; definitely doesn't feel like Kansas. Perhaps getting underrated over the past 5-10 years."

“Nice Tom Fazio course. I don't think it would get the accolades it receives if it were closer to a major city. #18 is a really bad finisher."
