Overview
When it won in 2008, Gozzer Ranch was the 13th Best New Course triumph for architect Tom Fazio. Gozzer won in part because of its gorgeous views of Lake Coeur d’Alene to the north and west, and the panoramic farm valley to the east. Little details elevate the architecture of Gozzer Ranch: a slight false-right-front edge on the first green, the backboard slope behind the sixth green, the fairway contouring on the dual-fairway drivable par-4 12th that kicks even a short drive to the base of the putting surface. Its shaggy-edged bunkers are more than mere set decorations. Some define targets off the tee; others pose options and challenges.

“One of the most unique places I have been. High on the mountain above Coure D Lane it offers spectacular views. The scenery can be distracting from the task at hand. I loved Fazio's use of the Besalt rock through out the course as a feature. The course fely like it built momentum as you played it and around every corner there was another reveal that had you admiring a hole. Great from start to finish but the back 9 really solidified it for me."

“Incredible visuals throughout the round at this Fazio gem that blends seamlessly into the surroundings of the mountain landscape and overlooks Coeur d'Alene lake on several holes. Holes 4 and 12 are short par 4's that offer several options to the player. Hole 7 is one of the more unique par 3's one will play anywhere, the green is placed in a bowl like setting w/ a natural rock surround. The bunkering and landscape of the areas outside of play provide a wonderful aesthetic hole to hole."

“This course presents a combination of beautiful surroundings, strategy, variety and challenge. Beautiful aesthetics are the first thing you notice once out on the course. Hilly conditions with Lake Couer D'Alene as a backdrop on many holes, as well as the bright colors throughout the course (green grass, blue water, golden fescue and black lava rock) offer a beautiful canvass on which to play your round. The course is not all beauty though in that it offers a great challenge. Well placed bunkers off the tee and around the greens will catch errant shots. The greens were fast, and you must be on the proper side of the hole to avoid three putting."
