Overview
The Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Emerald course at Wailea Golf Club is more forgiving than the Gold—also designed by RTJ—but has the same dramatic elevation changes and scenic ocean vistas as its sibling. Starting with the par-4 opener, there are plenty of downhill tee shots that play to relatively generous landing areas with the Pacific in the background. The views, playability and quality conditioning making the Emerald course an enjoyable track on Maui’s southwest coast.

“This public golf course resort in Wailea consists of 3 courses. The Gold and Emerald Courses share the same clubhouse and the Blue Course is located 1 mile to the north near the Grand Wailea Resort. Located 30 min south of Kahului Airport (OGG) in the south west part of Maui, Hawaii. This Robert Trent Jones, Jr design opened in 1994 Very scenic hillside course with ocean views on much of the course"

“A beautiful resort golf complex located on the sunny side of Maui with three courses. The Wailea Emerald course measures 6,825 from the back tees with a course rating of 72.8/134. The Gold Course measures 7,078 yards with a course rating of 74.5. Both courses have four sets of tees with the shortest playing around 5,300 yards so that the courses are playable by all level of golfers. The courses are in good condition and gives the player a number of shot options to negotiate its many bunkers and natural hazards. The beautiful views across the Pacific to the other islands adds to the aesthetics. As is customary in Maui, Green Fees are a little high but worth the cost."

“Emerald Course is good but Gold Course at Wailea is better."

“Not the most interesting property in terms of topography and most of it slopes towards the ocean. This does allow for some scenic down hills holes but there ends up being a long of back and forth holes along the contours. Good conditioning and a pleasant resort style, cart-riding type of golf course."

“I gave this the same star rating as the Gold even of the Gold is a more difficult test. This course is really fun and is a bit easier to score on than its bigger brother."

“Emerald is a very enjoyable golf course to play in Wailea. It is not too challenging, but offers a lot of dog legs and some rather difficult par threes. The course is usually in very good condition and is a good compliment to the longer more difficult Gold Course. It shares facilities with the Gold Course which works well."

“Beautiful scenery and decent greens for Hawaii where things get slow and grainy at some courses."
