“Well, you're on Maui looking for places to play and you can't afford to play Kapalua or Wailea or even Kaanapali every round? The Dunes is close to the airport, so if you want to play the day you arrive, it's right there. Other than that, I can't say it's a great value. It is what it is for golf on Maui, a lower cost, lower quality course close to your entry point. The issue for me is it brands itself links golf and it is so not links golf. After the first two holes, you climb your way through the jungle with unplayable forest and chin-high grass surrounding every shot. Successive holes traverse a 100-foot-deep canyon. It is, in truth, the antithesis of links golf. Once you get past the attempt to market the course as something it is not, play it if you want to shave $100-$150 from the better-known options."

“This course can be very challenging and requires a good drive on most of the holes. Your irons must be accurate to the greens to make a decent score. I really enjoyed playing this layout and will be back. The course was well conditioned with decently fast greens."

“The Dunes is a pretty good golf course in Central Maui. It is a bit wind swept and feels a bit cramped with the amount of houses along the course, but is a good option while on Maui. The clubhouse is spacious and pro shop and staff are friendly. The practice range is large. Make sure you try the food at Cafe O' Lei. It is excellent."
