Overview

Golf Club Budersand Sylt is known as the only true links-style course in Germany. Set on 180 acres of former World War II battleground land, the course weaves through towering fescue-covered dunes surrounded by dense native heathland. The Rolf-Stephan Hansen-designed course debuted in 2008 but is devoid of modernist touches and therefore has the feel of a course laid out many years ago. The course is located in the small town of Hornum on the southern tip of Sylt Island, surrounded on three sides by the windy shores of the Wadden Sea. The swirling breeze is Budersand's greatest defense, as the wind direction feels constantly varied throughout the round. The second nine at Budersand is the harder of the two sides and is highlighted by a pair of challenging par 3s at 13 and 15, as well as a three-hole closing stretch with snaking hazards reminiscent of the final holes at Carnoustie.
