Overview
About 30 miles northeast of Destin, Windswept Dunes plays through white sand dunes that give this Northwest Florida track a unique feel. Windswept Dunes is second-shot golf course, as the fairways are extremely wide, while the approaches can be a little more demanding. The layout plays over 750 acres and has a more rural feel than many of the resort courses along the Gulf Coast.

“Windswept Dunes is a fun course that is well worth the effort to get there! Fairways are very wide, but well-disguised, creating uncertainty from the tee. Holes are bordered by large dunes that create a visual separation from adjacent holes and homes. The course is flat, but not walkable because of extensive distances between greens and tees. Greens have subtle movement, tiers and terraces and falloff’s that must be considered. There are multiple tee boxes, allowing players of all skill and length to enjoy the course together. The course conditioning is quite good for a daily-fee facility and the practice area is terrific."

“Hidden gem" is often overused but not in the case of Windswept Dunes. In the NW part of Florida, where golf is often overpriced, this course is well worth the daily fee. In my opinion, it is as good or better as any course in the Destin area. It is only 20 minutes or so north of Hwy 98. Excellent design with many tee box options. Highly recommend."

“If you are in the rough on this course, you deserve what you get, because the fairways are wide enough to land a 747 on them...but good bunkering and fairway routing forces a need to think strategically about where you want to play your next shot. It only seems fair that missing the greens are a tough up and down. Pace of play is good, and the course is uncrowded, and just tough enough to keep your attention. Greens are firm and fast, but receptive to well played shots and the fairways play fast as well."
